Large quantities of drugs are seized

Officers with the Turkey Creek Police Department including K9 ICE, on Saturday, May 29, at approximately 2:41 p.m., conducted a traffic stop on a silver GMC SUV for minor traffic violations. While speaking to the driver, Alton Lang, of Ville Platte, it was learned he did not possess a valid driver’s license.

Revelry returns to Fred’s Lounge

The historic Fred’s Lounge of Mamou reopened last weekend to much fanfare. Closed since the pandemic came into full swing in 2020, bar patrons packed the facility for a morning of music, dancing, and spirits on Saturday.

Tri-Parish workforce posts gain in April

The Tri-Parish workforce posted a gain in April compared to a year ago when jobs vaporized amid COVID-19 restrictions and shutdowns. The April workforce numbered 67,162, an increase of 657 or nearly 1% over a year ago..

Honoring those who gave all

The annual Memorial Day observance was again held outside the Evangeline Parish Courthouse on Monday, May 31. The event was put on by the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America in collaboration with the local Catholic Daughters of America.
