Panthers are named to All-District team

By: TONY MARKS Editor Several members of the Pine Prairie boys’ basketball team were also named to the All-District team in District 4-3A. Jayland Duplechin was named to the All-District team. Ashton Deville, Hayden Skipper, and Julian Godeaux were also named as honorable mention selections.

By: TONY MARKS Editor The season’s accolades continue to pile up for the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs as Bri’Telah Freeman was named the most valuable player and head coach Rhonda Thomas was named coach of the year in District 4-3A.

Four Bulldog errors lead to 20-0 loss against Green Demons

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - As the Mamou and Ville Platte baseball teams met on the diamond Tuesday afternoon, four Bulldog errors helped lead to the Green Demons collecting a 20-0 win.

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - In her five innings in the circle Tuesday afternoon, Camryn Charlie recorded seven strikeouts and allowed one earned run on four hits as her Ville Platte Lady Bulldog team eased past Northwest 14-1.

Four-RBI day for Weidner sends Kinder over Sacred Heart

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - A two home run day from Grant Weidner sent the Kinder baseball team to a 5-2 win over the Sacred Heart Trojans in the back end of a junior varsity-varsity doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Weidner produced four of the Yellow Jackets’ RBI.

Payton’s Place: Veillon shuts down Blue Jays for 5-1 win

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - Sacred Heart pitcher Payton Veillon, on Tuesday, limited the St. Edmund Blue Jays to no runs through six innings. His only run allowed came in the top of the seventh inning in a 5-1 win for the Trojans.

Marked short: Season ends for Mamou in state semifinals

By: TONY MARKS Editor LAKE CHARLES - A season that produced a share of the district championship for the Mamou boys’ basketball team came to a sudden end on Wednesday, March 11, as the Green Demons fell 66-47 against Marksville in the semifinals of the LHSAA state tournament.

Lady Panthers hand Oakdale first loss of the season

By: TONY MARKS Editor A 4-run inning for the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers helped them hand the Oakdale Lady Warriors their first loss of the season as Pine Prairie won 7-0 on Tuesday night. Kynnedi Ware got the start for Pine Prairie and struck out 17 batters in seven innings while allowing four hits.
