Mamou resident is arrested for identity theft of elderly

Staff Report OPELOUSAS - Jason Shillow, 62, of Mamou, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail after allegedly stealing documents from an 82-year-old man and using the documents to withdraw funds from multiple bank accounts.

Unrestrained Driver Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Evangeline Parish

Evangeline Parish – Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on August 20, 2022, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 3042 near Theophile Road in Evangeline Parish. The crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Lionel Gabe Bangs of Ville Platte.

Brusly resident is arrested for drugs, gun

Staff Report The Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department, on Sunday, August 14, conducted a traffic stop on a car for a traffic violation. Upon the deputy making contact with the driver, he could smell a odor of marijuana emitting from the car.

MPD responds to juvenile related shooting

Staff Report In the early hours on Sunday, August 14, officers with the Mamou Police Department responded to the 200 Block of East Street in reference to a 911 call stating that multiple people had been shot.

Over 600 grams of methamphetamine are seized

On the 11 th of August 2022 the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Departments Narcotics Unit, conducted a traffic stop on a car for a traffic violation in Ville Platte. Agents conducted a interview and K-9 Diego was deployed, and gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics.

EPSO assists FBI in capturing fugitive

On August 8, 2022, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office investigations division assisted the FBI in located a wanted fugitive facing federal charges unrelated to Evangeline Parish. The FBI was able to obtain information that the suspect was living inside the city limits of Ville Platte Louisiana.

Suspect is arrested for contractor fraud

On June 3, 2022, and investigation was opened in reference to a case of contractor fraud. During the investigation it was discovered that the suspect Chad Fritz of Breaux Bridge agreed to complete a construction job for the victim who resides in Evangeline Parish.

Couple is arrested for theft of Dixie Youth funds

On July 19, 2022, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a theft from the Pine Prairie Dixie Youth Baseball Organization.
