Altercation at Mamou bar leads to arrests

On February 11, just after midnight, the Mamou Police Department received a call about shots being fired outside of the Stomping Ground bar. Video footage shows a fight that started just outside of one of the local bars between Tanner Landreneau, of Ville Platte, and Shelby Fontenot.

Juvenile is charged

On Thursday, April 20, a hearing was conducted in the 13th Judicial District Court pursuant to the Louisiana Children's Code.

Duplechain is arrested for domestic abuse battery

On April 9 2023, Louisiana Department of Children and family services (DCFS) investigators brought information to the attention of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Office Criminal Investigations Division that they were investigating a case of possible abuse within a family home.

Roberts is arrested for aggravated battery

On November 17, 2022, Deputies responded to the Bayou Chicot Dollar General located at 4680 US. Hwy 167 N in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that the victim attempted to stop the suspect from leaving the store parking lot with stolen merchandise.

On September 3, 2022, Deputies responded to the Y – Not Bar located at the intersection of Hwy 13 and La 10 in reference to a physical disturbance.

Victims are air lifted after shooting on Owen Street

Two victims were air lifted to Lafayette General Medical Center after sustaining gun shot wounds. According to Ville Platte Chief of Police Al Perry Thomas, the incident occurred between midnight and 12:30 a.m. on Monday, May 1, on Owen Street.
