Detectives with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, on May 1, assisted Probation and Parole with a compliance check on Von Dale Ashford (DOB: February 22, 1982), who is a convicted felon under Probation and Parole supervision.

Rider is arrested for 372 counts of CDS possession

Ville Platte native, Billi Matte Rider, faces 372 counts of possession of CDS schedule II less than two grams in Rapides Parish. She was arrested on May 1. Initially, her bond was set at $558 thousand, but it was reduced to $93 thousand. Rider then bonded out of jail on May 2.

Corey Hebert, on Monday, April 29, entered a plea of guilty on the charges of possession with intent to distribute schedule II controlled dangerous substance, to wit: fentanyl; and possession with intent to distribute schedule I controlled dangerous substance, to wit: heroin.

EPSO implements a new program to support persons on the autism spectrum

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, on April 26, began the Autism Safety Program. This program will require a person with an autism spectrum disorder to obtain a written diagnoses from their doctor on letterhead.

Ville Platte Police Chief Al Perry Thomas reported his department is investigating a shooting that left one victim hospitalized with an injury. Chief Thomas said the call came in to police headquarters late Monday night involving a shooting at the Gabriel Villa Apartments.
