Charges are upgraded

The Tri-Parish work force in June declined 744 people from the count a year ago. The workforce totaled 68,000 people in June, down from 69,544 in June 2022. The work force count includes the employed and those looking for a job.

LDWF Schedules Drawdown on Chicot Lake

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has scheduled a drawdown on Chicot Lake in Evangeline Parish for reduction of giant salvinia and for fish habitat improvement. The water control structure is scheduled to open on September 5, 2023, and the lake should dewater at a rate of 1.

Accused Shooter Booked on 1st Degree Murder Charge

Louisiana State Police Investigators have charged 23-year-old Vonteeko Lamar Anderson with 1st Degree Murder following the officer-involved shooting death of a Ville Platte City Marshal. Anderson was rebooked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on August 2, 2023, shortly after 6:30 P.M.

Qualifying dates, fees are set

According to Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court Randy Deshotel, qualifying dates for the upcoming Fall elections will be Tuesday, August 8, Wednesday, August 9, and Thursday, August 10. Qualifying will be held at the Clerk of Court’s office in the Evangeline Parish Courthouse from the hours of 8 a.m.
