Ville Platte- On July 31, 2023, shortly after 8:30 P.M., the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office requested Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations to investigate an officer-involved shooting on the 100 block of W. Beauregard Street in the city of Ville Platte.

A spokesman with the Louisiana State Police would not confirm any details regarding the officer involved shooting but did say the investigation continues. This is the last update from the scene. Again, more updates will be given as they become available.

City is awarded federal grant for sewer system

The City of Ville Platte, in 2021 was awarded a federal grant by the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) through the States’ Economic Development Assistance Program (SEDAP). The City will utilize DRA funds to make vital improvements necessary to update the sewer facilities.
