FIRE DANGER INCREASING MONDAY... .A tropical wave moving across the Gulf of Mexico will increase gradient winds over the region which may further exacerbate fire danger.

By: TONY MARKS Editor The list of candidates for the October election is now complete as the qualifying period ended at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10.
Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court Randy Deshotel was the first person to qualify for the upcoming October elections. Qualifying began on Tuesday, August 8, and runs will end today, August 10, at 4:30 p.m. Deshotel is seeking his fourth term as clerk and is pictured as he signs the form which will be sent to the secretary of state’s office. Funeral services for Barry Giglio were held Wednesday, August 9, at 12 noon, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse. Visitation preceded the funeral at the church and began at 9 a.m., and burial followed at Lakelawn Cemetery in Metairie.

Burn ban is issued

Evangeline Parish Police Jury President Bryan Vidrine, as a result of the current weather conditions, has ordered a parish wide burn ban on all private burnings in the parish, including all municipalities. The ban includes anything with an open flame that produces ember.
