50th annual Cajun Music Festival honors Taunte Sue de Mamou

Staff Report An estimated 650 people filled the Mamou Recreational Center on the opening night of the 50th Annual Mamou Cajun Music Festival. Hundreds more turned out on Saturday, September 16, for more live Cajun performances and contests ranging from egg tossing to greased pole climbing.

Possession of meth leads to federal sentence

LAFAYETTE – Eric Martin, 36, of Ethel, was sentenced for possession of methamphetamine announced United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown. United States District Judge Robert R. Summerhays sentenced Martin to 274 months (22 years, 10 months) in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.

Second annual Cotton Festival Black Pot Cook-off, parade are set

The second annual Cotton Festival Black Pot Cook-off is set for Saturday, October 14, at the Northside Civic Center. The entry fee is $75 for a 12X12 booth. Early bird special is $50 through the end of September. Booth decor awards will be given out, and the theme is “Peace, Love, Cotton.
