The Tri-Parish workforce declined by 356 people in August compared to August 2022, according to a Louisiana Workforce Commission report released Tuesday.
The workforce totaled 67,253 in August, down 0.5% from the 67,609 counted in August 2022.

Early voting continues for election

Early voting for the October 14, election continues through October 7, in the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters Office.
Early voting will be conducted at the Registrar’s Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sample ballots may be obtained at the geauxvote.com website.

Swine Festival seeking pageant contestants

The 2023 Louisiana Swine Festival Pageants are set for Saturday, October 14 at McFarlain Memorial Gym at Basile High School.
The main pageant will begin at 4 p.m. for the crowning of Miss La. Swine Festival for contestants between the ages of 17 and 23. The 4 p.m.
