Vidrine, Williams are named to transition team

By: TONY MARKS Editor Governor-Elect Jeff Landry announced his local government transition team. Among the members are Evangeline Parish Police Jury President Bryan Vidrine and Ville Platte Mayor Ryan LeDay Williams.

Basile land ties to JFK

By: DARREL LEJEUNE LSN Editor As the nation approaches the 60th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy (November 22, 1963), I have discovered for the first time that the Kennedy story has some unusual connections to the Basile area.

A welcome site

Staff Report Turkey Creek has just installed two new welcome signs for the village. One is located on the northside of Turkey Creek on U.S. Hwy 167 South not far from the corporate limit sign when traveling from the north.

McNeese State University student Sam Gil is a finalist for a Rhodes Scholar. Gil, from Ville Platte, is a senior majoring in mass communication and a member of the McNeese Honors College.

Tri-Parish jobless rate, workforce holds steady

Staff Report The Tri-Parish workforce in September held steady and unemployment rates changed little from a year ago, according to statistic released by Louisiana Workforce Commission. Louisiana’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September is 3.6%.

Bulldogs head to state cross country meet

Two Bulldog cross country runners from Ville Platte High qualified for the state meet in Natchitoches on Monday, November 13. Ja'Kylin Manley placed 22nd and Kaden Ardoin placed 24th at the regional cross country meet.
