Staff Report Turkey Creek has just installed two new welcome signs for the village. One is located on the northside of Turkey Creek on U.S. Hwy 167 South not far from the corporate limit sign when traveling from the north.

Ville Platte native is a Rhodes Scholar finalist

McNeese State University student Sam Gil is a finalist for a Rhodes Scholar. Gil, from Ville Platte, is a senior majoring in mass communication and a member of the McNeese Honors College.

Tri-Parish jobless rate, workforce holds steady

Staff Report The Tri-Parish workforce in September held steady and unemployment rates changed little from a year ago, according to statistic released by Louisiana Workforce Commission. Louisiana’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September is 3.6%.

Bulldogs head to state cross country meet

Two Bulldog cross country runners from Ville Platte High qualified for the state meet in Natchitoches on Monday, November 13. Ja'Kylin Manley placed 22nd and Kaden Ardoin placed 24th at the regional cross country meet.

Swamp Pop Museum celebrates birthday

By: TONY MARKS Editor Several Swamp Pop stars turned out on Friday, October 27, to wish a happy 13th birthday to the Louisiana Swamp Pop Museum in Ville Platte. Among the stars in attendance was Junior Dugas, who played a song that he wrote while at the museum last year.
