Hall of fame boxer dies at 86

By: TONY MARKS Editor A veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Louisiana Skeet Shooting Association (LSSA) Hall of Fame and the Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of Fame has passed away at the age of 86. Larry Hollier died on Thursday, November 23.

Election to speaker is a life reset

By: HARLAN KIRGAN LSN Editor There has never been a Speaker of the House from Louisiana. Jerrie LeDoux, community liaison for U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, was the guest speaker recently at the Eunice Rotary Club.

Parish 4-H students attend AgMagic

By: KENNETH GAUTREAUX LSU AgCenter ALEXANDRIA — More than 1,100 students across a 10-parish region in central Louisiana got to hold a live alligator, see cotton ginned and learn the importance of proper handwashing during a trip through AgMagic, the LSU AgCenter agricultural-themed exhibit.

School district scores a B in performance

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Evangeline Parish School District hauled in a 78.3 B in the latest round of district performance scores and letter grades. The mark was an increase from last year’s 73.7 C. As far neighboring school districts, Acadia Parish scored an 81.2 B, Allen Parish scored an 84.

Clerk of Court Walter Lee and Deputy Louis Demoruelle look over legal documents by which president-elect John F. Kennedy transferred mineral holdings in Evangeline Parish to Janet DeRosiers, said to be the hostess-secretary of his personal plane.
