VP 8U All Stars slide past VP Red Hots in warmup action

By: TONY MARKS Editor Before the All-Star season gets in full swing, local softball teams participated in a warmup tournament in Rayne. As part of the tournament, two Ville Platte teams competed against each other with the 8U All-Stars getting a 10-0 win over the Red Hots.

By: TONY MARKS Editor VIDRINE – The basketball court in this former country high school was nearing the end of its shelf life. The windows in the gymnasium were cracked, weathered, and worn. Enter then the Evangeline Parish School Board upon the recommendation of Superintendent Darwan Lazard.

LSHOF inductee Robertson passes away at 79

Phil Robertson, a Vivian native and a 2020 inductee in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, passed away on May 25, at the age of 79. While known to so many as “The Duck Commander,” according to his obituary, he was simply Phil, Dad, Papaw Phil, and the rock his family.

By: TONY MARKS Editor PINE PRAIRIE - Society today puts a lot of emphasis on value. For shoppers, value comes from a cheap price for a big product. For fast-food lovers, value comes from how many patties are on their hamburger. Values have a role to play in baseball as well.

Duplechain guides young squad to early success

LSU baseball will host NCAA Regional for 28th time

By: RAYMOND PARTSCH III LSN Sports Reporter BATON ROUGE -- The LSU Tigers will begin their quest to reach Omaha at Alex Box Stadium. LSU (43-14) earned the No. 6 national seed and will serve as host for the Baton Rouge Regional, which begins play this Friday.
