Many sweeps Mamou out of the playoffs

By: TONY MARKS Editor MANY - Hoping to replicate success as last year in the first round of the playoffs was the Mamou baseball team. Like a year ago, the Green Demons opened the postseason against the Tigers in best-of-three series.

Eight-run second inning sends Sacred Heart softball to quarterfinals

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - For the second time in three seasons, the Sacred Heart softball team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Division IV Non-Select playoffs. The Lady Trojans punched their ticket for next round with a 15-1 win over St. Mary’s on Tuesday.

Lady Panthers move on to quarterfinals

By: TONY MARKS Editor PINE PRAIRIE - Big hits from Josie Vidrine and Brylee Fontenot helped lift the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers in a come-from-behind 10-6 win over South Beauregard. Jolie West earned the start inside the circle and went all seven innings.

Lady Green Demons move on to face Kaplan

By: TONY MARKS Editor With a 7-4 win over Erath, the Mamou Lady Green Demon softball team moved on to the second round of the playoffs where they will now face the second seed Kaplan Lady Pirates. First pitch is set for Monday, April 20, at 5:30 p.m. in Kaplan.

Fruge signs with McNeese rodeo

By: HEATHER BOGARD Associate Editor Sacred Heart High School senior Sidney Fruge, a barrel racer in the rodeo club, officially signed with McNeese State University in Lake Charles on Monday, April 13, to join the school’s rodeo team beginning in the fall.

Playoffs begin for baseball, softball teams

By: TONY MARKS Editor After a 9-6 win over Livonia in the regular season finale on Monday, the Sacred Heart Trojan baseball team ended the year with a 16-13 record. As a result, the Trojans earned the number 10 seed in the Division IV Select playoffs.
