Rallying for the win

Despite falling behind 4-0 to the Cubs, the Dots rallied in the fourth inning to take a 10-4 win over the Cubs in Thursday night’s 12U Dixie Youth baseball action at the Ville Platte/Evangeline Recreational Park. The biggest key to the Dots’ win: pitching.

Off and running

On Friday and Saturday, the Dixie Youth Baseball and Ville Platte Girls Softball Association seasons got off to a roaring start with action in both leagues. Both seasons, which were supposed to get going back in April, have been put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

LSU Tigers report back to training; will follow protocols

Two days ago the LSU Tiger football squad got back to work with weight room workouts to prepare for what everyone hopes to be a full grid iron season.

NFL allows coaches back to facilities

Some normalcy has returned to the NFL. This past Friday the league allowed coaches back into their facilities to continue preparing for the possible upcoming season. Up until this point, although teams could have up to 75 people at their team facilities, coaches and players were not allowed.

LSU adds Southern, Grambling to upcoming gridiron schedules

Continuing the route taken in the 2000’s under then athletic director Skip Bertman, the LSU Tigers will complete the circle of playing in-state football schools by adding home games with Southern and Grambling in 2022 and 2023.

Football is back!!??

High school football in Evangeline Parish is back, so to speak. Tomorrow is the day that all schools throughout the state can begin summer sports training as per the LHSAA order handed down last month.

Play ball, Chataignier!!!

After a long wait and lot of anxiety, baseball and softball in Ville Platte is back in session. Starting tomorrow, the Ville Platte Girls Softball Association and Dixie Youth Baseball will begin their 2020 season, and with it comes with a huge sigh of relief and a ton of excitement.

You never know when your curiosity will turn into an opportunity. For former Sacred Heart athlete, Sam Hollier, the chance to turn his curiosity into a job opportunity will come to fruition when he reports to McNeese State University in the fall.

LHSAA investigates possible violations

Reports surfaced Wednesday afternoon that the LHSAA has launched an investigation into four New Orleans area high schools not following the June 8th starting date for summer athletic activities.
