Basile secures huge win over Oberlin; prepares for playoffs

OBERLIN -- The Basile Bearcats forced a three-way tie for the District 4-1A championship Friday night after they secured a huge 42-25 win over the Oberlin Tigers. With the win, Basile improved to 3-2 on the year and has won its last two games in a row after starting the season 1-2.

In what will be the final regular season game for both teams, the Sacred Heart Trojans will host the North Central Hurricanes in a District 5-1A contest tomorrow night.

Basile faces tough task as they travel to Oberlin Friday

Against the Gueydan Bears this past Friday night, the Basile Bearcats proved that they were ready to get back on the field of play after their two-week layoff due to COVID-19 concerns. In that game, Basile churned up 42 points and 407 yards of total offense in a dominant 42-14 win over the Bears.

COVID-19 or not, LHSAA moves forward with plans for playoffs and sets state title games

BATON ROUGE -- The LHSAA Executive Committee recently voted to keep the football state championships in New Orleans despite the rumors of changes in the venue. The state title games will be played on December 26-28, with all classes and divisions taking part in the Prep Classic.

BATON ROUGE -- After two weeks of no games, the LSU Tigers hit the field this week in preparation for their road game with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

PINE PRAIRIE -- In what could only be described as a wild second half, the Ville Platte Bulldogs intercepted a pass on the final un-timed down in the fourth quarter to preserve a 36-28 win over the Pine Prairie Panthers Friday night.

GUEYDAN -- The Basile Bearcats garnered 407 yards of total offense as they rolled past the Gueydan Bears in a 42-14 win Friday night. With the win, Basile improves to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in district play.

Proving time

In what has been a Ville Platte High dominated series, the Pine Prairie Panthers have proven that they can play with the Bulldogs. Out of the nine times the two teams have hooked up on the gridiron, Ville Platte (1-3, 1-1) has won eight times.

Basile happy to be back in action after two week lay-off

The Basile Bearcats will hit the field of play for the first time in three weeks, as they travel to Gueydan to take on the Bears in a District 4-1A contest. After a very disappointing performance against Sacred Heart in week one, Basile (1-2, 0-1) looked to get back on track.
