LSU Tigers get back to action after week off; travel to Arkansas for date with Razorbacks

BATON ROUGE -- After two weeks of no games, the LSU Tigers hit the field this week in preparation for their road game with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The last time the Tigers were involved in a contest, the Auburn Tigers were putting a whooping on LSU the likes that have not been seen in a number of years.
Last week, the Tiger’s annual match-up with Alabama was cancelled due to a small number of positive cases of COVID-19 and contact tracing, which placed players in a 14 day quarantine. However, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron expects most of those players to be back at practice this week.
“We feel that we’ll get most of our quarantined guys back either today or tomorrow,” Orgeron said Monday. “The room’s going to be full today for the first time. We’re actually going to have two quarterbacks practice.”
While the Tigers were in quarantine, players were given workout to do on their own time. Those players that were not quarantined did get to practice, but those numbers were very thin.
In fact, TJ Finely was the only scholarship quarterback available to practice. LSU was so depleted at positions that walk-on players were brought in to fill the voids.
The coaching staff, finding out early enough that the Alabama game would be called off started to prepare for the Razorbacks.
Arkansas has had an up and down season. The Razorbacks have alternated wins and loses since the first game of the year.
Arkansas is currently 3-4 on the season, but is 2-1 in home games. In comparison to the Tigers, the Razorbacks defeated Mississippi State, a team LSU lost to, and fell to Auburn by only two points, 30-28. Auburn beat LSU 48-11.
Arkansas comes into the game averaging 26 points per game on offense and surrendering 31.4 points per game on defense. The Razorbacks throw the ball better than they run it, picking up 240.1 yards per game through the air as opposed to 148.1 yards per game on the ground.
Leading the way for Arkansas is former Florida quarterback Felipe Franks. The senior transfer has thrown for 1,678 yards and 16 touchdowns on the year. He is also third on the team in rushing with 302 yards on 78 carries. Leading receiver for Arkansas is Trelon Burks who has 508 yards on 34 catches.
