Pine Prairie softball waits to get off the bench

PINE PRAIRIE -- The Pine Prairie softball team is playing a game -- the waiting game that is. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the Lady Panthers have yet to take the field and play a game. Pine Prairie has been quarantined starting on Feb. 8 for two weeks, and then again for two weeks starting on March 1.

Mamou softball gets a tuneup

MAMOU -- The Mamou Softball Demons got back on track with a victory in their final non-district tuneup before district play. After dropping back-to-back games at the Acadiana Tournament over the weekend, Mamou defeated Opelousas Catholic 7-3 on Tuesday night to improve their overall record to 5-5.

Sacred Heart is not a basketball school. The Trojans have long put together championship teams in football and baseball, but basketball has long been more of a bridge sport than one that annually produces banners to be hung in the gym rafters. JP Bouillion is trying his best to change that.

LSUE hoops add wins to their season resumes

The LSU Eunice men’s basketball team pulled away in the second half Wednesday night for a hard-fought 67-51 conference win over Baton Rouge Community College. The Bengals (4-0, 2-0 LCCAC) found themselves involved in a tight game in the first half as BRCC utilized its size to keep the game close.

VPHS girls’ season ends at home against S. Beau

The Lady Bulldogs didn't make it easy for the competition. After recording an upset of No. 14 St. James in the opening round of the Class 3A girls playoffs, No. 19 Ville Platte was looking to notch another upset against No. 3 South Beauregard on Monday night.
