The Ville Platte Bulldogs wrapped up last week with a win over a District 5-3A foe, and another in a tournament over a Class 1A power.
Ville Platte had nine different players score in Friday's 71-49 at home against Iota. After holding just a 14-13 lead after the opening quarter, the Bulldogs opened up the game by outscoring the opposition 16-9 in the second quarter and held a 30-21 lead.
Ville Platte expanded that lead with scoring 23 points -- to only 14 by Iota -- in the third quarter. The Bulldogs had three different players score in double figures with Tauy Roy leading the way with 13 points. Davontae Fontenot and Tye'wuan Byers each added 10 in the win.
Ville Platte then capped off the week by defeating Hamilton Christian 61-59 on Saturday at the Hamilton Christian Tournament.
After a 18-18 first quarter, Ville Platte gained an edge by outscoring Hamilton Christian 12-9 in the second quarter and then 17-15 in the third quarter. That five-point lead would be tested in the final quarter but the Bulldogs held on for the three-point victory.
Ville Platte was paced by Tye'wuan Byers who scored a game-high 27 points and Ernest Roberts added 14.
Hamilton Christian was led by DJ Scott who scored 21.
