Ville Platte, Oberlin take home top honors at Bearcat Relays

BASILE - Oberlin High and Ville Platte High were the top two schools at the Bearcat Relays held Friday, March 11 with the boys’ and girls’ teams from the two schools swapping first and second place finishes. The OHS Tigers amassed 117 team points with Ville Platte close behind with 112 points in the boys’ division. On the girls’ side, the Lady Bulldogs totaled 167 points with the Oberlin girls in second place with 138 points.
The two schools also had three individual standouts among the top four athletes who were named outstanding in the field and outstanding in the track events. Oberlin’s Jeremiah Cotton was given the Outstanding Field honor and Ville Platte’s Omari Frank won the Outstanding Track award in the boys’ competition. Dryua Wilson of Ville Platte received the Outstanding Track medal with Basile’s Henley LeJeune being named Outstanding Field in the girls’ division.
