VILLE PLATTE -- Over the past week the Ville Platte High boy’s and girl’s basketball teams have been enjoying some success.
On Monday, both squads took home wins after taking down East Iberville in non-district contests.
On Wednesday, the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs brought home another district win when they defeated the Mamou Lady Demons on their home floor.
Here is a rundown of all three of those games.

Ville Platte (G)
vs. East Iberville
Ville Platte pulled away from East Iberville in the fourth quarter of play, as they eased past the Lady Tigers 44-34.
This contest began about as close as you can get. Both teams came out trying to get their offense jump started, with Ville Platte’s Trinity Leday putting up eight points in the first quarter to give the Lady Bulldogs a 10-8 edge heading into the ensuing period.
The offensive production from each squad slowed down tremendously in the second quarter. Ville Platte could only muster seven total points, giving them a two point advantage in the quarter and putting them up 17-13 as the half came to a close.
Vandryua Wilson’s eight points in the third quarter put Ville Platte one point better, 12-11, in the third quarter. The fourth quarter belonged to the Lady Bulldogs, as they outscored East Iberville 15-10 to put the game on ice.

Ville Platte (B)
vs. East Iberville
Ville Platte took control of the game in the first quarter and never looked back, taking down East Iberville 78-50 for their twelfth win of the year.
The Bulldogs jumped out on top 17-10 after one quarter of play, mostly behind Ernest Robert’s eight points. Ville Platte repeated their offensive output in the second quarter to take a 34-18 lead into the locker room.
The third quarter saw Ville Platte motor to a 22-7 advantage with Tauj Roy collecting 10 of those points. The Bulldogs put it in cruise control in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Ville Platte (G)
vs. Mamou
A tough defense and some timely scoring in the first half propelled Ville Platte to a 41-27 win over Mamou this past Wednesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs pushed out to an 11-4 lead after the first quarter of action. Mamou’s Kylie Rider hit two three-point baskets in the second quarter, but it was not enough to counteract the combined 12 points from Ville Platte’s Vandryua Wilson and Shayla Hickerson.
By the time the second quarter was done, the Lady Bulldogs led the Lady Demons 29-10.
The third and fourth quarters did not see a ton of offense for both teams. However, Ville Platte was able to hang on for the win.
