On, Thursday, August 5, the first planning meeting was held for the $1 million grant which was secured by State Senator Heather Cloud to construct a new multi-purpose building on the campus of Bayou Chicot Elementary.

A ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening was held on Friday, July 23, 2021 for MedExpress, Mamou Branch located at 1213 East Street in Mamou. It was an exciting day with a large turnout supporting the opening and service MedExpress will provide.

The Savoy Medical Center volunteers were treated to lunch at Mamou’s Krazy Cajun Cafe, and a “Thank You” reception was held in the Savoy lobby. Due to the continued rising numbers of the COVID-19 pandemic, these volunteers will no longer grace the doors of the hospital and Cancer Center.

For the last 89 years, since 1932, the name Boco’s has been synonymous with Evangeline Parish, but the business is preparing to close its doors for the last time. Chris Stromer shared his thoughts: “The market has changed, and we got older and we just see it as the right time to close.
