Jerrie Ledoux, community liaison for United States Congressman Mike Johnson, presented an American Flag that flew over the United States Capitol to the VFW Post 3803 in Ville Platte.

Around the time the Tee Cotton Bowl was set to be played, it was learned 10 students wishing to play football at Ville Platte High School were turned away because of a shortage of helmets. The shortage was due to manufacturing/availability and costs.

Leta Fontenot (left photo) was chosen as Resident of the Month for September at Heritage Manor, while Fredia Anderson (right photo) was chosen as Employee of the Month. Fontenot, a resident of Heritage Manor for seven months, has two sons and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The new statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacred Heart’s version of “Touchdown Jesus” that is located near the endzone at Soileau-Landry Field, was blessed last Friday night before the Trojans’ game against Marksville by Fr. Andrew Killeen of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Supplies are donated in Raceland

Following Hurricane Ida, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte adopted St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland. Much needed supplies were donated, and members of the A.C.T.S. retreat travelled to Raceland this past Sunday to deliver the supplies.

City of Ville Platte holds Ida supply drive

The City of Ville Platte, on Friday, September 3, held a supply drive for those impacted by Hurricane Ida. Items collected included tarps, non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and monetary donations. Similar collection sites are planned around Evangeline Parish.
