Sheriff Guillory begins second term in office

CDA holds French Retreat

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Catholic Daughters of America from Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church held a French Retreat for residents of Heritage Manor Nursing Home. The event was held at the Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Family Life Center on Thursday, June 20.

Wenger is named Rotarian of the Year

During the annual Ville Platte Rotary Club’s installation banquet held Tuesday evening, June 18, at Cafe Evangeline, Nicole Wenger was honored with the title of Rotarian of the Year for her outstanding contributions to the club, where she serves as secretary.

Presentations are made for service

At the Monday, June 10, meeting of the Evangeline Parish Solid Waste Commission, presentations were made in honor of years of service. Dillard Fontenot, of Turkey Creek, is retiring as a member of the board after four decades. He said, “I’ve been here 40 years, and we have some new blood coming in.

Inaugural Colors of Courage is held

Savoy Medical Center held its inaugural Colors of Courage celebration June 1. Ribbons are on display all of June to honor and celebrate all cancer survivors, warriors, and those loved ones who were lost. The public can order ribbons to honor someone in their life.
