Work has begun on an $8.5 million dollar project on La. 106 from La. 10 to La. 13 (between Beaver and Pine Prairie). This project consists of milling asphaltic concrete, in-place base rehab, patching, asphalt overlay, rumble strips, and related work. The work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. Intermittent lane closures will be required to perform the work, therefore, drivers should expect delays. The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot maximum lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone. Emergency vehicles will have access through this area. The project is estimated for completion in January 2025. State Representative Rhonda Butler announced the beginning of the project in a social media post and also announced work on Junction Road has been let out for bid as well as the bid for work on Hwy. 106 from Bayou Chicot to St. Landry will be let out on September 11. In her post, Representative Butler said, “As we continue to move forward, we are working with DOTD to work on all roads in our district. Just one road is a two to three-year process depending on the conditions of the road and where the roads are listed on criteria with DOTD. Also funding and availability are always the biggest challenges, as we are fighting for funds with 105 other district leaders allocating for funding. As your state representative, along with Senator Heather Cloud, we will continue to fight for our district.” Pictured above is the intersection of La. Hwy 13 and La.
