Sheriff Charles Guillory met with (pictured to the left in no particular order) Evangeline Parish School Board Superintendent Darwan Lazard, along with Johnny Deshotel, School Board Member Arthur Savoy, and Tony Bertrand. Also present were Evangeline Parish Sheriff Chief Deputy Major Scott Fontenot, Capt. Joshua Lafleur, and Capt. Luke Fontenot. Many items were discussed such as: funneling everyone to one entry point, more fencing, adequate camera systems around the schools, maps of all the schools for law enforcement, school security and/or resource officers, alert system to notify law enforcement, lockdown rooms, and loud audible system for each of the schools. Sheriff Guillory and Superintendent Lazard have an open line of communication concerning school safety and partnering to make these efforts a success.
