Local artist unveils Mamou mural located on Reed’s Pharmacy building

In the top photo, the new Mamou mural painted on the side of Reed’s Pharmacy on Sixth Street is displayed. The Mamou-inspired mural was painted by artist Hannah Gumbo. In the bottom right photo is a close up of the Mamou chicken and the lyrics “Two Step Mamou,” a title to one of Cajun/Zydeco artist Wayne Toups’s most famous songs. Toups was on hand for the mural presentation. In the bottom left photo, kneeling in front are staff of Reed’s Pharmacy, co-owner Rebecca Cormier, Gwen Fontenot, Naomi Vidrine, Simone Manuel, and co-owner John Reed. Kneeling to the left of them is Darryl Smith and on the right is artist Hannah Gumbo.
