Dixie Youth All-Stars began play this past weekend with the District 7 Sub-District T-Ball Tournaments. Three teams from Evangeline Parish competed in the East Sub-District Tournament in Oberlin. Ville Platte East ran through the tournament undefeated and won the championship. The Mamou team finished in second place. Highlighting their action were a 22-22 tie against Oakdale Nationals and a 20-14 win over Pine Prairie. As for the team from Pine Prairie, it finished the weekend in third place with a record of 4-4. Meanwhile, in DeQuincy, the Ville Platte West team competed in the West Sub-District Tournament. For more coverage, turn to page 6. The T-Ball teams will then compete in the District Tournament in Mamou from June 22 through June 25. The State Tournament is set for July 6 through July 9 in Bossier City, and the World Series will be held in Center, Texas, from July 20 through July 23. In other action, Mamou will host the AA Coach Pitch East Sub-District Tournament, which begins today.
