On Saturday, October 22, the Village of Chataignier held its 4th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Gumbo Cook-off at the village’s recreational park. The day also included a fun jump and music, and soft drinks, bottled water, and T-shirts were available for purchase. Bands were also performing on the Fr. Alcide Sonnier Stage, which was made and donated by Phil Miller. Breast cancer proceeds went to Savoy Cancer Center and Opelousas General Hospital. Pictured with Mayor Justin Darbonne are the winners of the cook-off. In the top from left to right are Tom Frank, first place; Marie and Henry Watson, second place; and Adam Dore, third place. In the bottom photo is Adapt Concepts, people’s choice. The team consisted of Mike Ardoin, of Rayne; Michael Chaumont, of Eunice; and Justin and Preston Cormier, both of Chataignier.
