A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Carrie Thompson Soileau, 84, who passed away on October 24, 2023. Fr. Steve LeBlanc will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Ninth Baptist Church, for Mr. Calton Edwards, 89. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Ninth Baptist Church from 9 a.m.

VILLE PLATTE - Barbara Ann Fontenot, of Ville Platte, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, at the age of 80 surrounded by her loved ones. Born and raised in Ville Platte, Barbara was a cherished member of the community throughout her life.

Loretta V. Perron, of Opelousas, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the age of 76. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. A viewing was held on Wednesday, October 18, at 8:30 a.m. Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas was in charge of arrangements.

James Allen Lormand, a man whose life was marked by courage, honor, and bravery, passed away on September 30, 2023, in Jennings. Born on December 12, 1930, in Morse, James lived a life filled with incredible achievements and deep connections with his loved ones.
