Funeral services for Stephen Hallam were held at 12 noon on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie with Kevin Smith officiating. Mr. Hallam, age 74, of Ville Platte, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette.

MAMOU -- Funeral services for Jessie S. LaFleur, a beloved resident of Mamou, will be held at 2 p.m. today, November 16, 2023, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou followed by interment at Reed Cemetery. She passed away at her residence surrounded by family on November 9, 2023.

DENNIS LEE PITRE SR

Dennis Lee Pitre Sr., 70, was born September 9, 1953, in Ville Platte, to Verna M. Pitre Tezeno and Dalton Ned. Mr. Pitre departed this life Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Houston, Texas. His visitation will be Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 12 noon with his funeral following at 1 p.m.

LOUELLA “LOU” BERNARD

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services were held for Louella Bernard at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Father Tom Voorhies presided over the services as the celebrant. Interment was conducted at the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.

ST. MARTINVILLE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at St. Martin De Tours Catholic Church for Henri Clay Bienvenu, 82, who died on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Iberia Medical Center surrounded by his family.

GUY NEWSOM

Marvin Guy Newsom Jr., an ultimate family man, was called to the Lord on October 17, 2023. Guy was born to Marvin Guy Newsom Sr. and Betty Jean (Manley) Newsom on September 10, 1952, in Kermit, Texas. The Newsom family soon settled in Mamou.

MARY NELL FONTENOT

MAMOU -- It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Mary Nell Fontenot’s passing on October 29, 2023, in her cherished home in Mamou. Born in Forest Hill, on November 9, 1941, Mary led a remarkable life filled with love, adventure, and warmth.

Gloria Faye Chapman, a loving and caring mother, has left an indelible mark on the lives of those around her. She peacefully passed away on November 1, 2023, in her hometown of Ville Platte.

STEVEN “SMITTY” SMITH

Steven “Smitty” Smith, passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes on October 26, 2023, at the age of 64. Born on July 7, 1959, in Ville Platte, Steven was the son of the late Arthur and Marguerite Andrus Smith. The community had an opportunity to pay its respects during the visitation services.

VILLE PLATTE - Constance Marie “Connie” Fontenot, known for her kindhearted nature and love for her family, passed away on October 25, 2023, in her hometown of Ville Platte, at the age of 62.
