The 71st Louisiana Cotton Festival began with the annual 4-H Cotton Food Fest, 4-H Cotton Pickin’ Pet Show, and 4-H Pumpkin Decorating Contest on Monday, October 6, at the Ville Platte Civic Center. Pictured to the left are the first and second place winners in the Medium/Large Best Costumed Pair division of the pet show. Reid Estilette, of Pine Prairie, (left) placed first with Quinn; and Hudson Manuel, of Sacred Heart, (right) placed second with Ozzy. Full results of the competitions will be in an upcoming edition of the Ville Platte Gazette. The Cotton Festival continues with carnival hours today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with free admission.
