Multiple shootings are reported in Ville Platte

By: TONY MARKS Editor A Tuesday night shooting reported on Rev. E.D. Alfred Street, in Ville Platte, claimed the life of the victim. Few details were known about the incident as of press time, and the matter remains under investigation. The fatal shooting came two days after reports of multiple shootings all throughout the city. Unconfirmed reports claim shots were fired in the Wyble Subdivision and along Main Street. Bullets, according to reports, hit several businesses located on Main Street and a residence located on the 600 block of East Washington Street, which is a block off of Main Street. A resident at the East Washington Street address called 911 on Sunday afternoon after hearing gunshots around the residents. Ville Platte Chief of Police Al Perry Thomas soon arrived on scene and was later joined by an officer. Upon inspection, several possible bullet holes were found on the exterior of the house, and one bullet hole was found where a bullet went into the house through the side wall. The bullet, after entering the house, struck the ceiling, ricocheted, and, upon belief of one of the residents, came to rest on the living room floor in front of the sofa. A day later, on Monday, a bullet was found in a vehicle belonging to a resident of the location. The bullet passed through the vehicle’s windshield. According to information received from the police department, the shootings on Sunday were related to a suspect or suspects in a car that was following a victim on foot. More information on the shootings will be reported when it becomes available.
