Princess Tea with Queens held at Aswell House

Following the Cotton Festival Youth Pageant held Saturday, September 16, at the Northside Civic Center, several Evangeline Parish festival queens were invited to attend the first annual Princess Tea with the Queens event sponsored by the Acosta Foundation and held at the Aswell House. The Acosta princesses and festival queens had a wonderful time hanging out, coloring and enjoying the refreshments. Each princess received a tiara and decorated a picture to place on a poster for the parade float, as they will get to ride in the Cotton Festival parade. Director Connie Lamke said Dr. Chuck Aswell asked the foundation to keep the tradition of assisting with the Cotton Festival alive, and the foundation is happy to do that. During Cotton Festival weekend, the queens will once again spend the weekend at the Aswell House as they enjoy the festival and pageant activities. The tea was a big success and Lamke hopes to grow the event each year.
