Funeral services for Ville Platte Deputy Marshal Barry Giglio were held on Wednesday, August 9, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse. Visitation preceded the funeral that morning at 9 a.m., and Deputy Giglio was buried at Lakelawn Cemetery in Metairie. Marshals from across the state escorted the fallen deputy’s body from Broussard to New Orleans on Thursday, August 3, which was four days after he was shot and killed while assisting in the execution of a search warrant in Ville Platte. Pictured in the left photo are deputies from the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement personnel as they salute while Deputy Giglio’s body is taken into the church. Pictured in the right photo are fire units from the Belle Chasse Volunteer Fire Department and the Port Sulphur Volunteer Fire Department as they hoist an American Flag.
