One is dead after shooting in Ville Platte

Ville Platte Chief of Police Al Perry Thomas confirmed one victim has died and a suspect is in custody following a shooting. The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, June 2, on the 600 block of N. Chataignier St. Another victim was transported to the hospital and is being treated for her injuries. The shooter, whose name has not been released as of press time, has been identified as a 25-year-old male. The matter is still under investigation.
