The 71st Louisiana Cotton Festival began with the annual 4-H Cotton Food Fest, 4-H Cotton Pickin’ Pet Show, and 4-H Pumpkin Decorating Contest on Monday, October 6, at the Ville Platte Civic Center.

Leakage from Allen Parish landfill contaminates Cypress Creek

By: TONY MARKS Editor CYPRESS CREEK – What should be clear blue water flowing along the creek banks is now black as oil. The reason is waste that is leaking from Timberlane Landfill, which is located in Allen Parish near the intersection of Pawnee Road and U.S. Hwy 165, north of Oakdale.

Early voting ends for Oct. 11 election
