Obituary for Judge John Saunders

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, for Judge John D. Saunders, 78, who passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Swamp Pop star Warren Storm passes away at 84

Wastewater treatment system update is given

Robert McGee, during the September 8, meeting, gave the Mamou Town Council an update on the scheduled repairs and improvements to the wastewater treatment system. He said the highest priority on the project will be done by the end of the year.

Pine Prairie seeks to purchase generators

EPSO Arrests

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Elan Rickey Rader, 33, Joshua, Texas, was arrested on September 6, 2021, by the Turkey Creek Police Department for possession of CDS Schedule II.

Guide to constitutional amendments is released

With the election a month away where voters in the state will vote on four proposed constitutional amendments, the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR) has released its guide to the ballot items. Amendment 1 on the ballot deals with collection of sales and use taxes.
