Drug arrests are made

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office releases the following: On the 14 th of October 2021 the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Departments Narcotics Unit along with the Patrol Division stopped a car in the parking lot of the Best Western hotel in Ville Platte.

Judge Vidrine is sworn in to replace the late Saunders

A circle of events culminated on Wednesday, October 13, with the swearing in of Judge John Larry Vidrine on the Third Circuit Court of Appeal. Judge Vidrine was appointed to fill the vacancy after the passing of the late John Saunders.

Advanced fair tickets for bracelets to enjoy carnival rides and Cotton Festival T-Shirts are on sale at the Tourism office located at 306 West Main Street, Ville Platte. Tickets for ride bracelets are $20 at the Tourism office. Cost at the fair will be $25.

Ordinance for sale of movable town property passes

During the October 13, meeting of the Mamou Town Council, Town Attorney Peter Savoy gave an update on the proposed ordinance for the sale of town property on Sixth Street. He stated this ordinance allows for the sale of movable town property no longer needed for public use.

Pine Prairie sets holiday hours

Pine Prairie Mayor Quint West told the village council Trick-or-Treating hours in the village are set for Friday, October 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. He also reported the Christmas parade and tree lighting will take place on Saturday, December 4. The parade will begin at 4 p.m.
