Two recent arrests made involving ATV thefts with more to come

On Friday October 9th, 2021, Deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of the Chicot Park Rd. in reference to an ATV theft. Deputies learned the ATV taken was an older model tan Honda ATV. The ATV was taken out of the victim’s storage shed when he was away from his residence.

Honoring thy father

For Pheobe Aguillard, riding in the Mamou High School homecoming parade Friday, October 15, took on a more personal and touching meaning than the typical riding on top of a car. Pheobe’s father, Damien Aguillard passed away in a drowning accident on July 24, 2010, when she was only six years old.

Chataignier Councilwoman Debra Fontenot, citing being in school and working on getting her state license, resigned from her position during the council meeting held Monday, October 18. “I hope I have represented this village in a positive way,” she stated.

Reward is offered for lost VP canine

What looked like a fairy-tale ending for Hayden, a playful, sweet, two-year-old Catahoula/Pit mix, turned out to be a nightmare for his new family. Hayden was in the Ville Platte pound for over 185 days, the longest of any of the other dogs. At one point, he was the only dog left in the shelter.
