PPPD investigates sexual assault

Pine Prairie Police received a complaint from a parent stating that their juvenile daughter was sexually assaulted by a male subject while she was living in the home in Pine Prairie. An investigation began by police and it was found that the male subject, identified as Artay Joseph Lejeune Jr.

Public hearing is set for new parish jail

A somber report came during the Evangeline Parish Police meeting, held Monday, November 1, when Secretary-Treasurer Donald Bergeron stated the parish has depleted all of its general fund balance. The reason is the continued housing of inmates outside of the parish.

The Tri-Parish workforce in September totaled 67,341, down 2% or 1,474 from year ago, according to statistics released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The September workforce in each parish declined compared to a year ago. The workforce counts the employed and those seeking jobs.

BANGOR, Wash. – A Mamou, Louisiana, native is serving aboard USS Nebraska, one of the world’s most advanced nuclear-powered submarines. Seaman Conner Deshotel serves as a yeoman and joined the Navy to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Robert Reed.

Parade is set for Ceaser

A tribute parade for J.C. Ceaser will be held Friday, November 12. Lineup will be at Mikey’s Donuts at 5:30 p.m., and the parade will begin at 6 p.m. The parade will end at The Bulldog on Main Street. J.C. Ceaser, the third of five children, was born on November 12, 1974 in Ville Platte.
