Family of Ceasar-Thomas seeks information, justice

Fifteen-year-old Cheyenne Caesar-Thomas was reported missing to the Ville Platte Police Department on the morning of December 7, 2021. Days later, she was identified as a pedestrian who was killed in a crash shortly before 7:30 p.m. on December 6, near Roy Baker Rd. in St. Landry Parish.

Board members are appointed

During the Mamou Town Council meeting held Wednesday, January 12, appointments were made to the Mamou Fire Protection District One Board and the Savoy Medical Management Group (SMMG) Board. Randy Miller was appointed to the fire district board, and Gene Burge was appointed to the SMMG board.

• Alan Michael Lavergne, 25, Basile, was arrested January 11, 2022, by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for probation violation and unlawful present or contact of a sex offender relative to a former victim. Lavergne remains incarcerated on no bond.

McNeese announces honor students

The President’s Honor List for the fall 2021 semester at McNeese State University has been announced. To be on the President’s Honor List, an undergraduate student must earn at least a 3.5 GPA or better while carrying at least 15 semester hours.
