Suspect leads authorities on pursuit

On January 17, 2022, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted the Eunice Police Department in reference to a motor vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle made its way into Evangeline Parish around the Chatagnier area.

Word is awaited on $10M grant

Evangeline Parish Superintendent of Schools Darwan Lazard reported to the school board that the district has made it through the first round of a $10 million grant application. As Superintendent Lazard told board members, the out-of-the-box grant idea is to realign grade levels in Ward 1.

New private school is in works

Pine Prairie resident Joey Fontenot outlined his proposal for a new private school to be constructed on 32-acres of woodland. Fontenot’s school would be a theater school and offer students skills such as acting, mask making, sets, and props.

MAMOU - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, January 17, 2022, for Lucas Paul Langley, 38, who passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Pastor Malcolm Ledet conducted the funeral services. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
