Traffic stop on L’Anse Bleu Rd leads to arrest; other arrest is made

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff Departments K-9 Unit, on Wednesday, January 26, conducted a traffic stop on L’Anse Bleu Road for a traffic violation. While the deputy was speaking to the driver, she noticed several indications of possible drug use.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Benjamin David Ardoin, 35, Mamou, was arrested January 21, 2022, by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for possession of a firearm by a felon.

On January 29, 2022, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 7301 Veteran Memorial Hwy. (The Y-Not Stop) located in the Vidrine / Redell area in reference to a suicide threat.

When most people think of an oasis, they think of an area of the desert with green grass and lush plants. But, as Merriam-Webster defines, an oasis is also “a pleasant place that is surrounded by something unpleasant” and “a time or experience that is pleasant and restful.

Swamp Pop Reunion Dance tickets are on sale

Tickets for the 16th Annual Swamp Pop Reunion Dance are on sale. This year’s event will be held on Monday, February 28, at the Ville Platte Civic Center. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the music begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person. Attendees must be at least 18-years-old.

VP Rotary: SLCC chancellor presents update

Dr. June gave an update on the many changes occuring at the school, noting the the college is being reimagined.

Staff Report The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Patrol Unit, on Saturday, January 15, conducted a traffic stop on a truck for a traffic violation. While speaking to the driver, the agent noticed an overwhelming smell of marijuana coming from the truck.
