Staff Report The Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit, on Thursday, September 1, conducted a search warrant on a residence located off of LD Verrette Road. When agents entered the residence, they took one suspect into custody without incident.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Scarlett Rachel Townsend, 39, Elton, was arrested September 8, 2022, by the Basile Police Department for possession of CDS III with intent to distribute.

Rates are set to increase in October

Staff Report Because of rising costs of materials, the Ville Platte Gazette will have to raise the annual subscription rates by $5 starting on October 1. “The paper has not raised subscription rates in over five years, and we were trying to keep the rates the same,” Publisher Garland Forman said.
