The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Seraille’s legacy is one of respect, extends beyond basketball

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor VILLE PLATTE – Montavis Seraille, a two-time All-Parish basketball selection and an 18-year-old junior at Ville Platte High School, passed away last Friday night in a gun-related incident on the 600 block of East Huey P. Long Street.

Sheriff shares more info on rejection of jail bids

By: TONY MARKS Editor After the bids for the construction of the new parish jail were rejected, and Sheriff Charles Guillory explained the decision was based on the lack of sub-contractors. According to the sheriff, there were originally three mechanical sub-contractors.

PAR releases guide to November amendments

The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR) has released its guide to the four proposed Constitutional Amendments that will be on the November ballot. Amendment 1 would set deadlines to veto bills and rules for veto sessions.
