Mamou Elementary School recently announced its honor students for the first nine weeks grading period as follows: Pre-K: Perfect Attendance - Lola Chapman, Alahni Dicks, Elle Fruge, Drake Lagrange, Kollins Ortego, Ayla Thomas, Callen Landreneau and Mila Landreneau.

PPPD responds to social media threat

On October 27 th , 2023 Pine Prairie Police received a complaint from a school administrator in reference to a juvenile making a threat to Pine Prairie High School on social media. It was investigated and the juvenile was charged and released to the custody of their parent.

By: TONY MARKS Editor After receiving every vote from his Republican colleagues in the United States House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, who represents Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District, edged out Democratic nominee Hakeem Jeffries to become the next speaker of the house.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Carrie Thompson Soileau, 84, who passed away on October 24, 2023. Fr. Steve LeBlanc will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Early voting begins Friday, November 3

Early voting for the November 18 election will begin Friday, November 3, and end on Saturday, November 11. Early voting will not be conducted on, Sunday, November 5, and November 10. Early voting will be conducted at the registrar’s office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
