The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Low income energy assistance funds are available

The Evangeline Community Action Agency Inc. is announcing the availability of funds dedicated to assist eligible low income households with their energy payments. All applications are taken on a first come, first served basis. Calls will begin to be taken on Monday, August 23, from 9 a.m.

Mary Ann Jenkins, a dedicated and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family at the age of 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, August 1, 2024, at Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Catholic Church at 2 p.m.

Library celebrates 100th French program

The main library in Ville Platte recently celebrated its 100th Creole French Table. Kudos was given to staff member Patricia Harris who facilitates the program. The group enjoyed cake, boudin, cracklins, and chicken wings along with special gifts donated by Security Finance.
