Welcome sign is unveiled

A new welcome sign for the City of Ville Platte was unveiled on Friday, November 8. The new sign is located at the eastern entrance of the city in front of the Tobacco Plus location and was purchased through a grant from the Evangeline Parish Tourist Commission.

Pronoun policy is proposed by committee

By: TONY MARKS Editor Following recent action of the state legislature, the policy committee of the Evangeline Parish School Board voted to recommend revisions to existing board policies and recommended a new policy regarding the use of pronouns and given names.

House Republicans re-elect Speaker Johnson to serve as speaker of the House

2025 Dixon Award Announcement - Ed Daniels and Glenn Guilbeau selected for 2025 honor

NATCHITOCHES – Nationally acclaimed and impactful statewide, New Orleans sportscaster Ed Daniels and Glenn Guilbeau of Baton Rouge have been selected for the 2025 Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Veterans Day is celebrated

On Monday, November 11, several different celebrations were held in Evangeline Parish in honor of Veterans Day. In Mamou, the annual Veterans Day Parade was held down 6th Street and ended at the American Legion Hall. After the parade, a ceremony and a cake auction was held.
