It was another frustrating week for Congress as a spending bill was passed that avoided a government shutdown but postponed our fiscal problems until March.

City worker is struck, killed

A day after a second set of skeletal remains was found in or around the City of Ville Platte, a city worker was struck by a vehicle and killed while laying down traffic cones on Christmas Eve.

Body is found north of VP off of Tate Cove Road

Sergeant Darrian Guillory of the Ville Platte Police Department reports human remains were found on Monday, December 23, 2024. The remains were discovered north of Ville Platte off of Tate Cove Road.

VPPD confirms body is found

Chief A. Perry Thomas reports a body was found on Saturday, December 21, 2024. The body was discovered in a field, south of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center. Ville Platte Police and Evangeline Parish Sheriff Deputies responded to the scene. Detectives are investigating, and an identity is pending.

Pine Prairie officials take oaths of office

Skinner is served; EPSB approves consultant’s fee for charter school

Todd William Tomerlin, 44, of Turkey Creek, entered into eternal victory on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. Funeral services for Todd were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at First United Pentecostal Church, of Turkey Creek.

At the Library

On Monday, December 23, the main library in Ville Platte will host a craft program for kids at 3:30 p.m. that will be followed by Kid's Bingo with prizes at 4 p.m. Please get the word out. It will be the last program before the Christmas holiday closures begin.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
